Established 1913
The John Kollar Slovak Literary & Library Society
of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The John Kollar Slovak Literary and Library Society of Pittsburgh was formed in 1913, by Slovak immigrants who came to America so they could learn and write English, raise families, and get jobs in Pittsburgh’s once-thriving mines, mills, and glass factories.
Today, both Charter and Social members and their offspring continue to reconnect with and strengthen their links to the past — gathering in the same club as generations before us. It’s affectionately known to all as The Kollar Club.
More than a century later, The Kollar Club stands as a living testament to the grit, community, and spirit of Pittsburgh’s Slovak-American families. We welcome you to be a part of that story.
